Social Workers (and Teachers and Nurses, etc) Are Exhausted

Trust is essential to civic life and MENTAL HEALTH.  Let's try to give one another the benefit of the doubt in 2022 and maybe we can make some progress.  Those of us in helping professions need it!

maggie and milly and molly and me - how Poetry helps me express my inner outsider

What sparks your creativity and the sense that you are connected to something bigger than your 'to do' list? Poetry does this for me and here's a little something I wrote about it. Maybe something to usher in the weekend. Happy Friday!

Being Divorced, My Way

Thank you for reading my blog.  I hope this piece resonates whether you are married, single, divorced or widowed.  To my mind, it's really about what and how I've learned to navigate change and the uncertain path of life.

Trust vs. Suspicion - It's a lifelong balancing act

Since January 6, I've been thinking a lot about suspicion and paranoia in our culture vs. trust. You guys know I love to interweave stories from my life with bigger issues we face as humans. This essay is more than just personal - I hope it's food for thought about how and why and when we trust or don't. Thanks as always to Medium and Human Parts for supporting my writing!

The New Year Isn't a Fresh Start and that's Okay

If someone you love has died, it's probably more than clear to you that our relationship with them goes on after they are gone. I think it's the same way with time. I know we have longed for 2020 to be behind us, but our history is with us. I don't see this as being sad or scary - to love our lives fully, to grow and change- we must mature and accept all that makes us who we are. As always, I'm honored to have my work accepted and featured on Medium in Human Parts. I hope this brings some peace and understanding - even a little bit.
